No server-side storage — your data stays on your device.
Privacy policy
Last updated: 19 July 2026
QRGen was built on a simple principle: the best way to protect your data is to never receive it. This page explains exactly what happens — and what doesn't — when you use this site.
QR codes are generated in your browser
Everything you type into the generator — URLs, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details, e-mail addresses — is processed exclusively by JavaScript running on your device. The QR code image is computed locally. No form content is ever transmitted to our servers or to any third party.
This is a static website: there is no backend, no database and no server-side application that could receive, log or store your input. You can verify this in your browser's developer tools — generating a code triggers no network requests.
Your logo never leaves your device
When you add a logo, the file is read directly by your browser and embedded into the QR code locally. It is not uploaded anywhere.
What is stored — and where
To make the tool convenient, your design settings (colors, size, pattern, and the logo if you added one) are saved in your browser's localStorage — a storage area on your own device that only this website can read. It is never transmitted to us. You can wipe it anytime with the “Reset everything” button or by clearing your browser data.
If advertising is enabled, your cookie consent decision is also stored locally so we don't ask on every visit.
Advertising and cookies
This free service is financed by advertising. If you consent, our advertising partner (Google AdSense) may set cookies and process data such as your IP address and viewed pages to display and measure ads. Without your consent, no advertising scripts are loaded at all.
You can change your decision at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer. Details on Google's data processing: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics
To understand how the tool is used, we may use Plausible Analytics — a privacy-friendly service that measures aggregate usage (such as page views, referrers, country and device type) without cookies and without collecting or storing any personal data. It is loaded only when we have enabled it, and it never has access to the content of your QR codes.
We record anonymous, aggregated interactions — for example which QR type is chosen or which file format is downloaded — but never the values you enter, such as URLs, passwords or contact details. There is no cross-site tracking and no advertising profile, which is why this measurement needs no cookie consent.
Legal basis: Swiss nFADP and GDPR
This website is operated from Switzerland and designed to comply with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP/revDSG, in force since 1 September 2023) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since we collect no personal data ourselves, most obligations are moot by design — data minimization taken to its logical conclusion.
